Warm Up and Wait

We are opening our side door of the church off of Third Street on Saturday, December 13 at 4:15 p.m. for people to stay warm before the Parade of Lights begins at 5:00 p.m. We will be serving hot cocoa and candy canes.

If you would like to help please contact the church office.

Christmas Poinsettias

Christmas poinsettias will be $20.00 this year. As usual,  the form is available on the table at the back of the church for those who wish to purchase a flower to honor or in memory of a loved one. If a separate check (or cash) could be made out for the poinsettia, this would be appreciated by the treasurer. Due to the higher cost this year, only ten have been ordered, so get your order in as soon as possible. The poinsettias will be on display at the church starting December 14 and will be available to be taken home after Christmas. PRUMC really appreciates those who help purchase the poinsettias to help decorate the church for Christmas!

Christmas Eve Service

Please join us for our Candlelight Service led by Deb Gearey at 4:00 p.m on Wednesday, December 24.

For our church family that will not be in the area you can stream our service on YouTube:

2025 Missions Report

The beginning of December brings to an end another year of missions for PRUMC.  As everyone knows, for the last several years, our church’s mission has been to keep its dollars in the local community.  In 2025 our mission dollars helped to support the Pine River-Backus Public Schools Tigers Den Food Pantry for students, the Pine River Area Food Shelf, the Minnesota Veterans Project, the Pine River Cemetery Fund, and our church’s snow removal fund.    Every dollar that supports mission work is always appreciated.

Potluck to Resume

We are resuming our monthly themed potluck on a Sunday once a month.  We began it November 23 with “hanging of the greens”.  Our next potluck will be January 4th when we Un-decorate the church.

Scriptures:

God With Us

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.  John 1:1-5, 14

23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”  Matthew 1:23

He Carries our Burdens

 “19 Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
    who daily bears our burdens.
20 Our God is a God who saves;
    from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.”   Psalm 68:19-20 NIV

Even to your old age, I am He,
And even to gray hairs I will carry you!
I have made, and I will bear;
Even I will carry, and will deliver you.

Isaiah 46:4 NKJV

“Cast your burden on the Lord
    he will support you!
    God will never let the righteous be shaken!”  Psalm 55:22 CEB
